The Worried Men & The Kytes

  • Gig Rating: 7/10 & 6/10 respectively
  • Best Track Played: struggling here.
  • Danceability Rating: 6/10 & 7/10
  • Best enjoyed: with low expectations.

Two reviews for the price of one this week.

The Worried Men - as professional and tight as usual. Christ they'd be a great band if they had a singer.

The Kytes - Nice bunch of blokes. They'd have been great if they'd had a lead guitarist (who was apparently stuck in London).

Bit of bass chat ..... what the fuck was going through the Kytes' bass player's head in deciding to play a "travel" bass especially while still carting around an Ashdown stack. For a guy who could so obviously play a bit it was not only the thinnest looking bass I've ever seen but it sounded positively anorexic.

Just have to say that these last two bands The Kytes and Revolver have been fantastic, I agree with you Mike that if the Kytes guitarist had bothered to turn up (did he think the District was maybe not a big enough gig?) then they would have been superb, but I do however have to disagree with you about the Bassist, yes he did play a travel guitar but I have to say the sound suited the music they played down to a T, and what A PLAYER HE WAS AS WELL!!!!!!!!!

Looking back over the xmas I have to say the Thorns show was a complete shambles, I saw the drummer in Witherspoons earlier on in the day having a drink, he obviously thought he could still be able to play later on that night, well he couldn’t, do us a favour mate, if you ever get asked back to play the District ever again stay off the booze or I’ll be asking you for my money back

Sad to see the Racing Cars end their career at the club, shame their Bass player Chris Thomas didn’t bother to turn up (strange that isn’t it?) wonder why Morty kept on referring to him time and time again throughout their set, anyone got any idea why?

Best Band of 2008......... Ian Parker by a country mile
